Friendzone?

I’m having problems with this one guy. He has been flirting with me, but then he went overboard. So I talked about the matter with him one night. After that conversation, I kind of understood him. Him being a flirt toned down a bit, but then just recently it seems like it’s happening again. He gave me the same reason, it’s hard for him to resist. I don’t know what caused him to be this way. He asked me why I cannot just accept him. Then I told him that we won’t be friends if I don’t accept him. To that point, I sort of friendzone him even if I didn’t want to. He was like we could still be friends no matter what, then I was like that we’ll be fake friends since I don’t accept him. He said we could be best friends. I am guessing he also friendzoned me. Then he said that he’ll stop flirting and treat me right. What did he mean by that though? I hate people misleading me. I’m not that type of girl who can play his game where everything is just a joke. I fall too easily, that’s the problem ); Am I exaggerating?
